"Dear Faithful"

My friend makes jewelry and asked if I could photograph her beautiful pieces for her website. This was right up my alley and I enjoyed this afternoon very much.

Photos for Publishing!

"Welcome"

"Reflection"

Back in the summer I submitted 5 photos for a community photography project focusing on the many great facets of East Vancouver. Surprisingly, not one, but TWO of my photos were selected and the book is being published in the Spring. It'll be called "This Is East Van" and it's gaining a lot of attention and recognition. I've heard it might even end up in Chapters?! Pretty cool!

Why is it that the harder you try, for things you want SO badly, the harder it is to bring them to fruition? And yet, other things.... like getting 2 photos published in a book, happen just like that? Without even trying? Curious.

"Looking-Up"

It was a gorgeous day outside yesterday and I decided I'd capture a few shots, drawing inspiration from one of the Miksang photos I came across a few days ago. This was the inspiration..... (photo by Michael Wood)

So, camera in hand, I thought I'd 'look up' and see what I could see.... here are a few examples.....

My Gorgeous HOT MAMMA Friend

This is my friend Steph. She is a mother of two... a 6 year old boy and a 9 month-old girl. During the shoot, the 6 year old was fine and dandy to play on his own, but the baby would not even consider the idea of whether she was comfortable or not, unless she was in mom's arms. You'd think this would have posed a problem, seeing that I was there for a head shot series. Nope! The funny thing about photography... it only tells ONE story, when there really could be SO many more. Steph was actually holding the baby in many of the shots..... and you'd never know it!

Miksang Contemplative Photography

A friend referred me to this website and said that my work reminds him of this style. Yes, I suppose it does! I concentrate on colour and capturing bits of stories, rather than the entire picture.

I have been looking for the common link between my love for yoga & meditation and photography. This is it!

Watch this video and, just like I did, you will get chills from some of these captivating images.

Photo Hunt

Went out one afternoon, looking to see what I could see...

I stopped in a tea shop and some really great colours were jumping out at me. I asked the woman working behind the counter if it would be alright if I took a few photographs, just for personal enjoyment. She said 'yes' at first, and then, after about 10 mins, she came storming after me... and with a scowl on her face, she said 'I have to ask that you don't take photos of any of the customers'.... I should have shown her my work... I didn't have the slightest interest in the people.

Kelly & Jordan August 28, 2010

This wedding was a friend's gig and he was nice enough to let me tag along for some practice. This couple was so lovely. They had this exciting sexual energy radiating from them. They were so snuggly and in love. The best part is, they have 2 young kids.... and the spark is STILL there for them. Beautiful! (I should have been taking notes!!)
